Safeguarding is key for all organisations working with and for children, young people and vulnerable adults and has been identified as an area that needs strengthening and an improvement of practices across a number of sectors, including international development.
Delivered by Lucy Monari and Rachel Ryan, this dynamic course will provide learners with an understanding of the causes of harm, abuse and exploitation and how to strengthen organisational approaches to safeguarding.
The course content includes:
- Introduction to Safeguarding
- Child Protection, Categories of Child Abuse, Recognising abuse, Vulnerable adults
- Standards in Safeguarding
- Child Safeguarding within your organisation and/or institution standards
- Requirements and how to conduct a Self-audit
- Introduction to Disability-inclusive Safeguarding: What does it mean, Who is it for, How to take first steps -
- Introduction to PSEAH (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation Abuse and Harassment):
What does it mean, History and background, How it intersects with Safeguarding, How to take first steps
This course is divided into five sections. Each section contains at least two recorded sessions which are between 30-40 minutes long. The total amount of time required to complete this course is 6-10 hours depending on your level of engagement with the material.
