Introduction to Community Development & Leadership


Description
This course is facilitated by Barbara Cullinan, an experienced training and development officer. An Introduction to Community Development will look at topics including what is community development, what is the difference between doing something for the community and with the community with a focus on models of participation and leadership styles. Specific tools used by community development practitioners will be outlined.

By the end of this course you will have a better understanding of the theory of community development and how to apply this when working with communities as a development practitioner and as a leader.

This course is extremely flexible. There are five segments that include video presentations which are are between 15 minutes and 1 hour long. Each segment requires additional time for exercises and reflection. The total amount of time required to complete this course is 6-10 hours depending on your level of engagement with the material.
